I’m Productive, Not Perfect!

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed right now?  Is there a project you know you need to start but you’re putting it off or don’t know where to start?


Chances are you are being attacked by perfectionism, the fear that you can’t get a perfect result so you sabotage yourself and don’t even start the project.  I have that problem too and it can be very limiting, but here is what helps me.  I repeat the following affirmation . . .


I’m productive, not perfect !



No one is perfect, so it is a very disempowering goal to strive for.  A more attainable goal would be to do your absolute best.  A lot of the time the standards that we place on ourselves is so high that we make it impossible to achieve them.  Trying to be perfect is unproductive but doing your best brings results.  Remember it is only when you put yourself out there and try, do you learn and improve.  The next time you feel overwhelmed start repeating the affirmation and follow these next 5 tips . . .

1.              Re-evaluate the goal you are trying to achieve

2.              Define what doing your best looks like.

3.              Break down the goal into action steps

4.              Set a realistic timeline

5.              Get started
