9 Ways to get Inspired (34)
by Charmaine Hunte
I try my best to keep fit by exercising regularly and I’ve been even more inspired to continue when I see the achievements of the athletes during the Olympics. While it has sparked many debates between my boyfriend and I about which sports should and should not be included in the Olympics you can’t help being awed by the level of skill demonstrated by some of the athletes. All athletes have coaches to help them achieve their goals. A success coach will tell you to find someone who has already achieved your goal and model their actions to achieve your own success. Here are some insights from the Olympics that inspire me; hopefully they will inspire you too.
Gold Medal athletes . . .
1. get up early
2. practice and train really hard
3. continue to practice even when they don’t want to
4. practice 20 + hours a week and more
5. push past pain, defeat and fear
6. finish what they start
7. get a coach
8. stick with likeminded people
9. understand the rewards of delayed gratification
You don’t need to be an athlete to apply these to your life to provide you gold medal results.
I hope these insights inspire you to achieve your personal best. Don’t cheat yourself out of success by quitting if it’s not easy enough for you. If it is worth it stick it out to the end. Even if you don’t get the gold, don’t miss the gold of the lesson learned.
“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” William Arthur Ward
