Comfort Zone (26)
by Charmaine Hunte
Is it just me, or do you feel inspired as well to exercise now that the good weather is here. As we start to change from winter to summer clothes we notice what fit great last year now does not look so hot. Things we were able to cover up during winter are now very visible in the summer fashions.
A personal trainer friend of mine tells me all the time that the muscle strengthens in the repetitions where you push past your comfort zone. So what that means is that you gain the most from exercise when you do an extra 5 reps after the 10 you planned to do.
If you want to teach a child discipline enroll them in an organized sport because a lot of life lessons are learned on the field. Remember the Victories post, if you were to look back at the achievements you were most proud of, the common theme would be that you succeeded because you pushed a little further than you thought you could.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Do you feel like you’re in a rut right now? If you are then you need to ask yourself how comfortable you are? If you want to make a change then you are going to have to shake things up and get uncomfortable?
PS: The bigger the change you want to make the higher degree of discomfort is required.
